LODGE A BAS?
Did you know that nearly six million BAS are lodged every single quarter? Now, that’s a lot of paperwork.
If your business’ gross income (excluding GST of 10%) equates $75,000 or more, you must register for GST, and any business who’s registered for GST – yep, you’ve guessed it – have to lodge a BAS.
When you register for an Australian Business Number (ABN) and GST, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requires you to lodge your BAS at a time advised by them.
Then, the ATO uses the information on your BAS to work out your GST refund or bill. It’s also used for business income tax if you’re in the pay-as-you-go (PAYG) system, employee income tax, fringe benefits tax, luxury car tax, wine equalisation tax, and fuel tax credits.
